BE: Real

April 10, 2020

This is the 101st day of 2020. (It’s also my 101st blog of 2020.)

To listen to today’s Be Real episode, please click BE REAL VIDEO.

So I’m going to call this blog Living Love 101: BE Real.

Let’s be real: When we all wrote down our intentions for the new year and the new decade, none of us envisioned that the whole world would have so radically altered in just a few short months.

Let’s be real: This is an unprecedented time.

Let’s be real: We’re all still figuring out how to navigate this global crisis.

Let’s be real: None of us know what the “other side” of this will look like.

And let’s be real: We all have very different visions of that “other side” AKA the future.

As I begin my next 100 days of morning blogs about creating heart-centered practices that can realign us with the healing power of Love, I want to be real with myself and anyone reading this:

  • I write this blog because it’s my way of sharing this living Love that has transformed my life.

  • I write this blog because I believe that anything and everything that contributes to our global conversation about the Power of Love is the most important thing we can do right now.

  • And I write this blog because writing is one of my heart-centered practices. It’s how I live Love.

Each month I’ve picked a heart-centered practice to share. This month is BEing.

So is writing BEing or DOing? Or a little of both?

What is all this practice of BEing about anyway?

Doesn’t the world need more doing?

What the heck good does it do for us to all just sit around and contemplate our navels when people need help?

Well, you might be a bit surprised at how Webster’s Dictionary defines BE.

I’m going to share what the defintions, but the examples are mine.

  •  to equal in meaning : having the same connotation as

    • Life is Love

    • We are One

  •  to have identity with : to constitute the same idea or object as

    • You are my equal.

    • We are all each other’s equals.

  •  to constitute the same class as

    • This blog is my way of living Love.

    • When I write I am speaking my heart.

  • to have a specified qualification or characterization

    • The world is round.

    • Love is All there is.

  • to belong to the class of

    • To be steward of our planet is our responsibility.

    • We are our brother and sister’s keepers.

  • to have an objective existence : have reality or actuality

    • I am a human being.

    • I am born to love.

  • to have, maintain, or occupy a place, situation, or position

    • Our world is in crisis.

    • I am staying at home.

  •  to remain unmolested, undisturbed, or uninterrupted

    • Let her be.

  •  to take place

    • We are currently sheltering in place.

  • to come or go

    • At some point this time will have been and gone.

To be. . .as I hope you can see from these examples. . .isn’t even remotely passive.

But here’s the kicker: How we “be” is how we and everyone else experiences the world.

Let’s be real: The world we live in right now is a manifestation of how we and countless generations before us have been. In fact, everything we humans have done to one another and our planet is an expression of who we have believed ourselves to BE.

Let’s be real: Looking at our human history, that’s not so pretty. Wars, famines, genocides, hatred, extinctions. Not so good at all.

And yet let’s be real: All those things are NOT who we know ourselves to be.

We know ourselves to be capable of huge love.

We know ourselves to be kind.

We know that we want to help others.

We know that we really do care about one another and our four-legged, winged, and finned friends.

We know we love our beautiful planet and we want it to be here for the children and grandchildren we love.

LET’S BE REAL: WE KNOW WE ARE BETTER THAN WHAT HISTORY SHOWS WE HAVE DONE.

So let’s be real: It’s time to show up as our better selves.

Let’s be real: Reconnecting with those better selves IS how we help other.

And let’s be real: We’d all better get cracking.

Because let’s be real: This world and our fellow human beings need us all to BE OUR BETTER SELVES ASAP.

So let’s be real together: Let’s love this world whole by living Love.

Because Love IS the only Reality.

Loving is the only way we can BE real.

And Love. Heals.

Let’s BE Real together. Let’s #LoveViral
