Today is May 27. My dad’s birthday.
So, we’re taking a break from the book for this bonus episode about Vincent Price’s Heart-Centered Practices.
My dad had the kind of smile that lit up a room. The kind of smile that makes you want to smile back. The kind of smile that makes you feel that anything is possible, and that all of it would surely be good! More than good. AMAZING!
After I hit the road in celebration of the Vincentennial, the clever name for my dad’s 100th birthday celebrations, I began to remember everything behind that smile. . .in other words, my dad’s philosophies and practices of living.
I know that sounds formal, but to have a life as consistently glorious as my dad’s was, you’re definitely doing something more than flying by the seat of your pants.
For those of you who have heard me speak about my dad, you’ve heard some of these philosophies. This episode will gather five of them in one place.
I’ve written so much about my dad, that I just decided to riff on these, so there’s no transcription this week. I apologize.
But here are the top five practices.
1) If you’re always curious, you’ll never be bored.
2) When you limit your interests, you limit your life.
3) People who need people are the luckiest people in the world.
4) Never lose your childlike wonder.
5) Yes.
I hope you enjoy this episode.
Happy Birthday Dad!
