WHAT IS A DAILY PRACTICE OF JOY?

DISCOVERING MY DAILY PRACTICE

In April 2015, I wrote my first Daily Practice of Joy blog post -- because I had to find some way to break the cycle of workaholism that had consumed virtually every part of my being. From these first tentative words and explorations of joy, my whole life began to transform and everything bloomed.

This first blog laid the foundation for all that has come since -- and it remains a touchstone reminding me of the immense healing power of joy!

THE PRESENTS OF PRACTICE

In April 2017, I decided to try sharing some of my core practices: Beauty, Being, Books, Flight, Food, Fun, Paths, People, Places, Soul, Soundtrack, Stories.

By writing more short entries with accompanying photos I had taken about these essential daily practices as well as my weekly blog posts, I not only endeavored to keep my joy practices fresh for myself, but I also hoped to share ideas about practice and joy that might inspire others to create their own.

THE PRACTICE OF PRESENCE

In April 2018, I realized that I had to shake things up again. On my Back Roads Book Tour for my inspirational memoir, The Way of Being Lost: A Road Trip to My Truest Self, I have been sharing the immense healing power of both joy and practice with others. So it took me a while to realize that I had lost the joy in writing this blog.

So I've rededicated myself to being more present to my practice of joy by sharing, as I first did, once a week -- rain or shine, short or long -- whatever surfaces. . .
